Thats an awesome looking Jacksons. I hope my Xanthalophus looks like him when he grows up! He is about 4 months old now and has so great looking horns and colors. :)

Just wondering, why does everyone make such a big deal about the care required for jackson's. My guy seems to be doing great. I dont see any difference in care level between him and my two veilds.

Quikksilver,

Jackson's usually require cooler temps and more humidity than Veils. In addition, the other two Jackson's subspecies generally are more sensitive than xanthalopus and probably contributes to the reputation of being a "big deal." I think this is due to the fact that most of these subspecies are wild caught and captive bred specimens are not readily available like Xanth's. My wild caught Meru's tend to catch everything from parasites to minor/major bacterial infections while my captive bred Meru's tend to be a bit more resilient. This is the reason most stay away from WC animals. Consider yourself fortunate.

BTW great looking animal. Ed
