My new enclosure for my new Ambilobe male.

I pick him up on saturday! I just gotta get the dang cage waterproofed! Today i have school shiz all day so i can do it today but tomorrow ive got most of the day off to mess with it! Im very excited to get him. I really like the stones im using. I dont free roam crickets so injesting stones shouldnt be a problem unless hes suicidal. But hopefully ive provided him with a good home so he wont be ;).

Nice cage....

Nice cage.........the waterproofing is a good idea for sure. I like your plants and climbing vines. He will have lots of area to drink from and roam on. Who is the sire of the cham you have coming from Chameleon Kingdom? I have a young male from that breeder. They are very nice people :) Is he still coming tomorrow?

I was going to pick him tommorow but i decided since i have school in the evening i want to do cham stuff all day long so im gettin him on saturday. His Sire is yoda! The Ambilobe in my avatar pic! He looks so incredible in person. Go to their available cham page and the one im getting is the 2nd guy (with the yellow coming in). That picture from what i understand was taken a month ago or so so hes much bugger and he has much brighter colors! I CANT FREAKIN WAIT. John and cyndi are awesome people that have such a huge passion in chams and have offered to help me in anyway needed. Theyre like 10min down the road for me too!

I must agree with Nic John and Cyndi and very friendly and know alot about what they are doing I am also gonna buy one from them they are good people and if you are wanting a panther i would strong recommend them

Thanks all for the compliments:D We're glad that we can help share our
love for chameleons with others. I hope Catherine, you like the little guy you got from us. And Nic, I know that you're excited to get your chameleon right away, but if you need to wait a few more days to make sure the little guy won't get sick from breathing in the fumes from the finish, we can always plan to have you come over later in the week. The cage looks awesome! It's great to see you put so much time and effort to make sure you give this guy the best home possible. Have you thought of any names yet?

By saturday the fumes should be all clear(i hope). Funny you guys posted i was gonna give yall a call tomorrow morning around 10ish tomorrow! I'll drop yall an email!

Haha i was thinking of naming him Disco but im still tossing around names. Maybe people on here can help me decide!

my thoughts on fumes...
im about to waterproof my cage that i built out of cedar and am using a water based sealant. the kind of sealant you get in a can will be oil based and i do believe that it has a flash dry of about an hour but there will be stinky fumes for quite a while. i decided not to use oil based sealants anymore because of the environmental effects and dry time. last fall i actually used an oil based wood stain for my bearded dragon's cage and used a clear coat varathane to seal it. i think that it took almost a week to stop stinking, and it said on the spray can that cure time was something like a few days. the cure time is what really matters. if it cures in 48 hours, and at that time there are no fumes, you could assume that it is safe for your new cham...

but i really wouldn't try to rush it. i plan on letting my new cage air out for at least double the time it takes for the stuff to cure just to be on the safe side. i would hate to wake up in the morning to a dead cham!

WOOO HOOO!! i love the rocks in the plant! i had gone out to the dollar store and bought a bunch for mine just a few days ago. it's absolutely brilliant! great minds think alike ;)

the mesh looks really nice too, but i might be concerned about the melting... it is possible to just buy a tiny piece of aluminum screen for the top if it's more convenient.

darn, seeing your cage so complete makes me jealous! but i suppose that i'll be done mine soon enough :)

GREAT WORK!!

Im helping my roomate (casidonacid) build cages similar to mine. Hes making 2 twin cages and stacking them with a 6 inch gap in the middle for the lights. His veiled male is going on the bottom and his new panther on the top. We've pretty much perfected the design. I like the rocks too. Im gonna do some extra waterproofing on my cage tomorrow and hopefully the fumes are gone by saturday. Im not buying an oil based sealer cause i want it to dry asap.

I put on some more coats of water based polyurithane and its looking great and sealing up fast. The water based paint on stuff drys quickly and has minimal odor. Of course i wont put anything in the cage if theres any doubt that there are odors about. It should be fine by saturday.
