My male will not mate!

Hi,

I have 1.2 Calumma nasuta. They now sit for a few months together in a terrarium and everything went fine!
Unfortunately, the male shows no interest in the two females:). Now he is already sitting separately from the females about 14 days and today I showed him one of the females, but he did not respond and ran past it.
What could it be?
What can I do?

I hope very much on your tips!

Best Regards

im confused so you may need to provide some more detailed info for the more experienced members...

Are all 3 housed together all the time?
Are the females even receptive or old enough to breed?

Hallo,

Ja, sie waren immer bis vor 14 Tagen nach Lieferung.
Die Tiere haben jetzt über ein Jahr alt und bereit für die Zucht gewesen.
Das Männchen das Weibchen nur Uhren, aber sonst nichts!

this means

Yes, they were always up to 14 days before delivery. The animals now have over a year old and was ready for breeding. The male watches the female only, but nothing else!

I am not up to speed on the mating behaviors of any of the Calumma genus, but I can tell you what I would try.
I would house the male separately for a period of time (perhaps a month) and then reintroduce him to the females gradually, perhaps one at a time.
This has worked with some of the trioceros genus (ie: Jackson's).
The idea is that you create a situation where a male has not been around but suddenly appears and starts hanging around the females territory.
I do not know if this will trigger receptiveness in the female, but it's worth a shot.
Good luck!

Hi,

yes, I'll just separate times for a month and then I hope it is better and he wants =)
And if it does not work?

According to the information on Adcham, breeding almost always occurs in the "early morning hours."
Is it possible that it's happening and you're just not witnessing it?

Calumma nasuta

I think not, because then I would long ago have eggs;)
And I got from a breeder (of which I have the animals) know that it can happen at lunch and dinner.

Hi,

The females do not show any aggression towards the male.
