Hello guys!
I have a question. How many crickets.should I give to my 1 month old veiled?
he is really hungry. I've read on other forums that i should feed him 2 times a day but with how many crickets? I use micro.crickets, abot 1 cm big or shorter. He look like he can eat and eat and eat ;)
And one more thing... How many times a week should i give him vitamins+calcium, and on how many crickets.should.i add this supplements? ;)

Hi, I'm not a big expert, so I hope someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but a month old baby should eat as much as he wants. Usually people recommend to feed for 5-10 minutes once or twice a day, but I believe it's for a 2-3 month old.
You should dust with pure calcium at every feeding, multivitamin twice a month and calcium with D3 (if your multivitamin doesn't contain it) twice a month.

So, you claim that i should dust EVERY cricket with calcium and vitamins twice a month... Okey :) i think it makes sense. As much as he wants? Because I've reas that veileds are very easy getting fat and they like to eat much :)
So I will try it, and is vitamin D3 necessary if i have UVB 5.0 lamp for.him?

And thanks for the answer :)
Will be nice if anybody will give his advice too please ;>

mat3o meant the following with the supplements:

Calcium without D3 - Every day
Calcium with D3 - Twice a month
Vitamins - Twice a month

Calcium will be needed every day, however, the D3 part of the secondly mentioned calcium supplement is needed far less. It is important that the calcium be ingested, but the D3 can lead to over supplementation if fed too much. So in the end you will have 2x calcium, one without D3, and one with.

I have never owned such a young chameleon before, so I'm not sure how much they should eat.. so I cannot comment on that :( Just wanted to clarify the misunderstanding of the supplements before you stop giving him the calcium he needs :) (Although I don't know if it should be ever feeding or not. It would be better if someone with a lot of baby experience could also verify the supplement amount!)

Thank you Ferrah :)
Yes, you have to be careful not to overfeed, but a baby needs much more food then adult, cause it's growing pretty fast. I believe 25 feeders per day is a reasonable amount. But again, I don't have experience with babies.

Thanks, I am giving him calcium with every cricket, and I am giving him 6th little cricket now and he is still eating :) he loves it :)

if someone can comment the amount of food for him, I'll be thankful :)

I'm sure 15-20 would be ok, I believe even 20-30, but you should wait for someone else to confirm.

Make sure the crickets aren't too big. The cricket (from left to right across it's belly, not from head to butt) should be smaller than the space between the chameleon's eyes. Allow the baby to eat as much as it can in about 5-10 minutes 2-3 times a day. When they are young, they should be allowed to eat a lot.

As for the supplements, yes you need a plain calcium without d3 to use at every feeding and a multivitamin to use twice a month. However, the amount of times you use a calcium with d3 depends on the brand/how much d3 it has in it. If you post the brand and how much d3 it has in it, we can tell you how often you can use it. The amount of d3 is usually written on the bottle somewhere (often in the "guaranteed analysis") and is presented like "12,345 IU per kg/lb." Also make sure that when you dust, the crickets/other feeders should only be just a shade lighter than the normal color. They should not have dust caked on or look like a ghost.
