im just putting kiwi in the garbage pale laying bin. it is the one with wheels like in janns camille post. i have planted a small ficus in there because i know chams sometimes like to dig near trees. it is an all organic soil mixture since play sand is now out of season and i couldnt find any :( i hope this is ok. i packed it down realy tight. anyways, do i still need to provide a uvb source while she's in there? or will she be fine for a day or two without it, and when i try and feed her, i can just dust extra lightly with d3? what can i do? im gonna put her in now tho so she can get going so just let me know what you think. thank you guys

Has she showed any signs of digging yet? Unless she's digging I wouldn't leave her in there for days. I’d put her in there for 2 to 3 hours and if she shows no signs of digging get her out and try again in a day or two. The tree may be distracting. She may rater sit in the tree that dig. I have one small branch in Camille's bin. They dig to the bottom and digging through roots is extra hard on them. Soil also makes them black and it will not wash off. It won’t come off until her next shed.

she has showed no interest in her laying bin, but like i've said in other posts jann, she has been really interest in sitting near the bottom on stems on her lowest planted pots, there is no room for her to dig. and when she is not on the bottom plants, she is up high basking. this little girl has realy been confusing me. good call about the soil. having it come off with the next shed doesnt bother me, but its still something good to know, and when i go out today, i wil deffinately look for some more play sand. i didnt plan on leaving her in there for even the night tonight if no digging started. but the reason why i put a small tree in there is because before i moved her into her new cage, i noticed her in the position she has been on her lower branches, with a small disruptance in the pot. i will see how today goes, and if nothing happened, i will change the set up. i am going to also call the vet right now and see if i can get an xray done.

Do you not have a container of washed playsand in her cage so she can start the digging there so you won't miss the signs of her needing to lay eggs? IMHO moving the female back and forth when she may be near egglaying is just asking for trouble.
