My First mellers chameleon!

Ok so my first mellers chameleon just came in today! he looks great besides he had a bent nose and the place I got him from said his eye should open up when he gets more hydrated and fully acclimated! What do you guys think about it? They also said they treated his eye for a potential eye infection!

I would have expected them to keep the cham until he was in top shape, sending a cham to me with an eye problem that "should clear up" would make me very, very unhappy. If that is a wc cham, you may have a problem on your hands. Good luck, and come on back here with any questions.

well they gave me a month garantee for him. And Said if im unhappy i can send him back for a refund! And I was really looking forward to a good health mellers!

I agree. Not too great to send an animal that has an ongoing health problem that they knew about...mentioning that they had treated it. At the very least they should tell you exactly what they treated the eye with, for how long, and what diagnosis they based their treatment on. There are many reasons a cham keeps an eye closed, not just an infection. It can be a symptom of other serious problems. I would be very skeptical about what they tell you, and also whether they will actually honor a return (most people don't return an animal they are not satisfied with either because they don't want to cause even more stress or because they don't think the problem is serious).

A wc melleri with no health problems is challenge enough. One with a known problem could be heartbreaking.

He is an import yes! Im going to see if they actually take him back as much as it heart breaks me. This cham needs more tlc and they probably have way more experience with melleri than I do! And its probably going to be a real struggle with him at this state for me as a first time mellers keeper!
