Correct me if im wrong and not trying to scare you but it looks to me like he has some form of MBD :\ and id downgrade on the bulb to a 50 or 60 watt whats the temp under his basking spot? and where did you get him?

Hi Chamili,

he looks nice. grats.

the best advice is to move the cage to a high table or dresser to get her cage off the floor.
they like hight and her cage is too low to the floor.
once you do that she will be less scared of people because she feels more secure up above you.

Harry

edit: I also don't see any light for D3...do you have a reptisun 5.0 being used? if not, you will need one ASAP or she will get a bad case of MBD.

Welcome to the forum Chamili :)

You say you have just got your cham? Did you buy him from a reputable breeder or someone that has just owned him? If so then I would be contacting them and letting them know that he has MBD.

He needs to be seen by a specialized herp vet pretty quickly to help stop this via an injection of calcium. You may get lucky and the previous breeder will offer to split the vet costs with you or pay them all.

Best thing to do is search this forum for MBD and read up on it. There are many good, informing threads and articles about it. You have a beautiful cham but he does need to see the vet. When you do go take in a fresh poop as well so that he can be tested for any parasites.

i got him from a store

i just got 5.0 uvb light and some D3 for him . thank you everyone 4 the help .will post more better pictures of it soon

you need a linear uvb bulb. 5.0 . not a compact they cause eye issues. u need calcium with d3 dust everey week ( since he has severe mbd) calcium without d3 every day , and a multivitamin dust every 3 weeks . his lack of supplements are sever.

You should prob go see a vet and get some calcium supports for him to help him with his bones so it doesnt get any worse.

remember to use the D3 dust only once or twice per month.
sadly, he still needs a vet to help with this problem of MBD.

I'm sure in time he will be fine. good luck

Harry

i agree. also raise the cage off the floor. so his highest spot is above your head atleast.

I normaly would not follow such advice because there are a few reasons that MBD happen, and treatment can be different.
I would only do this if a vet says to do this.

Welcome to the Board Chamili and congrats on the new cham. I would truly be more concerned about getting his health on track than anything else right now. PLEASE, for his sake and his future do some extensive research and get him to a vet. Spending money on a vet visit instead of running out and getting him some new things is way more important at this point, and again, please do more research on the vet than you did on chams before choosing one. A reputable herp vet that treats chams wil be able to tell you what course of supplement treatment you will need to (strictly) adhere to at home to ensure the MBD gets stopped. With lots of love and TLC he can make a full recovery at his age, or at least it will get stopped and not advance. MBD is very painful for chams (any reptile for that matter) so please get him to a vet and on the road to recovery. Good luck!

The cage itself isn't bad. However, yes, like everyone said, he has MDB and needs to see a vet very fast.

The vet visit is NOT optional by the way...

after reviewing previous threads about mbd. many have said to bump up the calcium intake while on treatment because of it. not overdueing it, but enough. alot of vets dont know crap about supplements depending on where you are. if your in the middle of nowhere most vets arnt specialized on chameleon treatment. i had to go way out of my way just to find one here in cincinnati that knows what the heck thier talking about. all im saying. but yeah he really needs to get to a vet fast.make an apointment with a repitable vet .....then read alot about mbd and how you at home can help after the vet has done all the vet can do.
