My First Chameleon, Rango!

Hello everyone!
I brought my veiled cham home last night and thought it'd be a great idea to join a forum where I could get advise from experienced owners.
I have a few questions…
How do I know if my cham is male or female?
When would be a good time to start interacting? 2, 3, 4 days?
Hasn't eaten since yesterday at the pet store.. Is that normal for being transferred into a new enclosure?
Rango's colors changed from a lime green (at the pet store) to a dark green when we got home last night… Is that due to stress or temperature or both?
Today he is a lighter green but not the "happy green" like the pet store associate told me.
Today is the first full day Rango has been apart of our family. Am I over reacting and just need to give it time? Or is this something I should be concerned about?

Thank you for taking the time to read this :D

Welcome to the forums and a big congrats on Rango! I keep veileds and they are awesome chameleons. Males have a bump on the heel of both back feet and females do not. It can take them a few days to settle in and start eating. I recommend you give him a couple of weeks to settle in and get use to his new home before you start to interact. When you can post some photos of Rango and his new home. I'm attaching my blog for new keepers. This is how I have had success raising my veileds and panthers over the years.
