my first cage input please!!!

hi guys and gals this is my first cham setup and have just started seting up for his home.. i have a pothos, boston fern and a honeysuckle vine for now and have a ficus benjamina on the way.. any input would be great, i will be posting pics as i set up more and will acept any info to make this the best cham home i can..

With all those plants i recommend you getting a 6500k grow light, keep those plants alive and kickin

Not sure on those, i just know 6500k bulbs make your plants grow like crazy. Maybe another member will chime in and help you out.

From what i've read on the "net" sounds like plants won't grow as much compared to a 6500k bulb. And the bulb you have is specifically for aquariums (plants submerged under water).

To run a 6500k bulb, you need a T5 High Output Hood...It's a bit pricey, but from what i've heard it's a great light set up for your cham/plants.

This is the set up I just picked up for my 6-7 month old panther chameleon. I also plan on throwing a bunch of live plants in my enclosure.

Your cham will need a basking and uvb light (can't tell from pic if you have those and your just starting the set up). I'd also add a couple vines for more climbing areas. The plants look great! Lots of hiding and climbing opportunities. If you don't have a way to give your plants sunlight I would also say to get a 6500k bulb. I just got mine from lowes, it's labeled as a "daylight" bulb and will say 6500k on the package somewhere.

Some more vines (especially near the top) and one or two basking spots (at different temps) would be needed. I would say some more plants, but with the ficus and the others growing you should be fine. I don't see a drip or mist system yet, but I know you said you just started. What's going in there?

thanks im going to Lows to day for the daylight bulb. and yes i'll be getting a bunch of vines and drip system along with a misting system and a basking bulb.. i'm doing a slow set up so i make shoure that everything is just a perfict as i can for my new baby before i get him.. i going to get all the plants first and test them out for life span and health under these conditions.

update on cage

ok i went to the hardware store and got a daylight bulb and checked that it is 6500K. used an old flex lamp and dismanteld it and ziptied it to the top of the cage see pic.

i also got some black plastic tube for the wires so thay look better on the cage as you can see above.. this cage has to look perfect or my wife wont let me have it in the living room HAHAHA she is the boss.. let me know that you think so far..
