My DIY cage

Okay so I had an earlier post of a cage I built that wasn't so hot so I took all o today with my uncle to build a good one. We are completed and there are wooden parts. I took everyone's advice and sealed those wood parts with what my uncle had given me. I put on one VERY LIGHT coat of fast drying polyurethane clear satin and just want to if that type is okay? My uncle assumed it was but I'm not puttin a Cham in it till I know for sure. Like I said I only put a super light coat on for now

when ever i use any stain IMO if it doesnt smell then its safe to use with animals.
so basically i stain. let it completely dry for a couple of days and if it still smells i let it sit out until it doesnt anymore
