hello this is peso, a femal veiled chameleon who is about 1 year old. i have had her since she was 2 months old. She lives in a 2' L x 3' H x 2' W tank enclosure with screens on one side and the top. i have taken her to the vet several months ago for an eye infection. Now both of her eyes are infected and don't shut all the way when she sleeps so each morning i use a damp Q-tip so help ease the goo out of her eye. i was worried about her so i bout the repti-fogger to help with humidity due to her not having a full shed. you can feel eggs in her belly but she won't lay them even though i have 8 inches of soil at the bottoms of my enclosure. i am at a loss of what to do to her her eyes and i'm worried about her veil being a little swollen. please read and give advice peso is so young i don't want anything to happen to her.

She looks like she may have a systemic infection which means she needs oral antibiotics. And I honestly suggest asking the vet to do an xray this is one of those times it'd be good to know how far along she is with her egg developement.

okay thank you for the response, i am going to make her an appointment in a few days if nothing changes :)

She has some edema and her limbs, "veil" and eyes are swollen. She needs a vet.

In the meantime s, we need more information....please answer the questions in the how to ask for help thread at the top of the health forum....

You said she has soil at the bottom of her cage..is it moist enough to hold a tunnel? Is it even packed enough? Has she ever dug in the soil?

my main concern is why her eyes don't shut all the way when she sleeps

Does she see you watching her when she's digging?

I'm not good with eye problems because my chameleons have never had any with a couple of exceptions on WC ones that came to me that way...but the eyes are definitely a concern. There are just too many possibilities for me to know for sure what's going on..

when she sees me watching her she stops digging so when i see her digging i leave my room and keep the door shut for a while

You may just need to drap something in front of her enclosure. She needs complete privacy to safely dig.

You said..."when she sees me watching her she stops digging so when i see her digging i leave my room and keep the door shut for a while"...you shouldn't even let her see you. This can lead to eggbinding.
