my chameleon has been sleeping past wake up time, which is 8:00, I just came in at 11 and he was still asleep where he was last night.

Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - Veiled,8 months old, been with me for 6 months
Handling - only when i deep clean his cage which is once every two weeks, but I spot clean almost daily(during these times I don't touch him
Feeding - I'm feeding him 10-15 crickets a day? and I gutload them with cricket crack
Supplements - I dust my feeders daily with calcium with no d3, and twice a month calcium with d3, then once a month they are dusted with reptive vitamin
Watering - I use a mist king, and every 2 from 8-6 it mists for 3 mins, I never see my chameleon eat or drink, he is pretty shy about those kind of things, but i know he is eating, and his poop looks healthy

History -he hates people, animals, any thing coming near his cage, at night when he sleeps all his colors are shown, but during the day he is usually a darker color.

Cage Info:
Cage Type - 24x24x5
Lighting - I use a reptive sun 5.0 uvb linear tube, and a 40 watt house bulb for heating
Temperature - during the day the basking temp stays from 80-87 at night the the lighs are off and the temps range from 75-80, I use a digital thermometer
Humidity - humidity is a costant 40-50%, measured witha digital thermometer
Plants - I am using fake vines, and limbs
Placement - the cage is in the corner of my room, not much traffic, the top of the cage is 6.5' from the ground
Location - I am located in southern Illinois, usa

to be completely honest this is the first time i notice him sleeping this late into the morning, but Im worried there could be something wrong.
thanks for any help and suggestions

the pic I attached is of him sleeping, and the time of the photo is 11:20 am, he should have been of 3 hours ago

Was it cooler in the room or very rainy last night? Was your morning very cloudy? Even indoors, chams are sensitive to daylight level from windows.

What you want to watch for is a repeated pattern over time...one occasional sleep in may not mean anything (unless he snuck out on the town :)

I think your having similiar issue I am. My Panther is growing up and unable to thermoregulate well enough in his small enclosure.

Your problem seems to be the temp doesn't vary enough.

Outside it's usually 20 degrees difference between night and day, but it ur room it's only 5 degrees.

I'll monitor him over the next week or so and see what happens.
I can't do very much for the temps, our house doesnt have central air, so at night we just have fans blowing, so the temp drop off isnt very much

Oh, so how cool does it get at night? If the temps don't drop enough for him he isn't resting well or even sleeping. They need the nightly temp drop to lower their metabolism.
