Posting photos is the only way we're really going to be able to help you. If you're very worried though, I would leave a message on your vet's phone asking to come in tomorrow.

i read in another thread about a chameleon with black blotches, turned out to be necrosis from an infection. it's never too soon to contact your vet.

good luck, i hope things turn out well for you

I agree with kmb89 i did a search on google, and have read that it is an infection could be caused by a burn or maybe a small scratch or something, i would definetly recommend a vet visit asap so it doesnt get too far along and cause serious problems for your cham. best of luck :)

Your chameleon is clearly VERY sick and probably dieing... Therefore, the only thing to do is to bring it to a specialized vet (not an everyday dogs and cats vet).

Meanwhile, since we are at night, you can always post a photo and answer the previous questions, but it will NEVER be as good as going to the vet!

EDIT: And by the way guys, the black marks can be MANY things, and we can not say what it is unless seeing a picture of it, and even then we won't necessary be able to guess what it is. It could be fungus, necrosed shed, infection, etc.

Vet yes....assume the animal is dieing? No...it's really impossible for anyone here to make such an evaluation.

Please try to get him to a vet tomorrow (pay the fee for an emergency visit...I did it for a hamster so you don't have to be embarrassed!).

I said "probably dieing", Eliza! ;) And a chameleon with his eyes half closed and having problems to see and grab some vines is definately not a chameleon in full shape. I'm sure you'll agree with that! :)

i am going to try to put pictures up...but its kind of hard cuz every time i open his cage to try to take a pic he stresses out and starts changing colors and he turns dark so u cant really tell teres black blotches...on yah and i have nooo clue how to post pics on here..sorry...:(

Either way, don't wake up your chameleon!! If he sees you, he might get very stressed out and it could even be fatal.

In that case, since posting pictures may be too much of a problem, all you have to do is go and see a vet as soon as tomorrow! I wouldn't wait two days, just to be sure.

You know, when chameleons are showing signs of sickness, it's because they have been sick for quite a while. Therefore, i strongly suggest you go see a vet tomorrow! I am sure you understand! :)

Good luck man! And keep us updated!!
