my chameleon is not moving

Hi, I have Chamaeleo (Trioceros) montium. she is with the male, she was born in the summer, cage is huge with plexus, during the night they have 15 Celsius degree, during the day 22 to 26, she is little bit fat, not eating, not drinking, I think she got unfertilized eggs, please what to do. I went to see the doctor, he told me to leave her with male and that we will see.

I don't usually disagree with the Dr. but I would get her away form the male give her a proper laying bin and see if she is better. I would not even let the male and female see each other. The stress from that male may kill her. jmho

Sounds to me like your girl needs a laying bin and some privacy. Please heed the advice given above, it could very well save her life! Good luck!

Did you examine the poop to see if there are any small sharp stuff that
he could have swallowed?
If his vent area swollen or red?

Could also be maybe an internal rupture with would need a vet.

I have seen chams pass very small amounts of blood with on harm and didn't
do it again, but you need to be the judge if he is sick or injured and take
him to the vet (but NOT the first one you mentioned!! )

yes I examined, but there were just crickets, he also drinked on his own , but sleeping during the day, this is also not normal for him, and not eating. I have problem in my country to find some vet to know about chameleons

I would take them to a different vet.

Obviously each of them is ill and even though people here might be able to determine possible causes, you need a vet to make a real diagnosis and treat them.

Hello I am going to see new one tmrw, the old one told me If I dont want to have some different animals than chameleons, he did x-tray and told mi that she got inferilized eggs and that he have no time to do the operation even he told me before that it will take him like 10 minutes, but because she is to small they can not put her under controlled anaesthesy , because of her weight, so there is 80% that she can die. And about the male he took some smears and he told me that I have to wait.

Hello so I went to se new vet and now about the female, she stayed in the hospital for operation. So like after 4 hours I will let you know.

And male, she told me he had some parasites in his pooh and it could be also reason of blood in his pooh, but she is not happy how he behave not moving a lot and closed eyes, he received antibiotics

And please she told me to not to force him to eat, but he has no energy now :-(

Blackyna, I am so sad for you.


If he is not eating or drinking, you may be able to use a dropper or needleless syringe to give him fluids. He may drink if you drip water on the tip of his mouth.
A 50% mix of water and Gatorade or Pedialyte may help him.
You can ask the vet if there is any reason you should not do this.
You just want to be sure to put the fluids in the very back of the mouth and do small amounts at a time.

Again, I'm so sorry about your female and hope that the male recovers for you.
