My chameleon is a shy eater

My baby veil chameleon seems to be quite a shy water lately.
I can leave for the day come home and he has polished off his plate, but as far as me seeing him eat I rarely get a chance.
Is this normal? I love seeing him shoot out his tongue

Yep, it happens. My male panther has no problem chowing down in front of me. My female panther will sneak a bite, but stop mid-mouthful if I look at her. My male veiled has never eaten in front of me in the past 3 years, since he was a baby. However, I know he eats, just can't ever figure out when! Your veiled should come around - like anything just take it slowly and let him get comfortable with you being nearby.

Glad it's somewhat normal. He use to eat in front of me more.
I just introduced him to meal worms and he is now eating crickets more than the fruit flies he originally only wanted to eat.
