pascal wont open his left eye, he'll do it for a little when he hears me but then closes it the rest of the time where as his right stays open. whats wrong with him?

I have a male veiled that is about 9 months. i have had him for almost a month. He doesnt like being handled much, getting puffed out hissing and trying to bite, i am working on that. i try handling him about once every other day. i feed him crickets 6-8 every other day and mealworms 6-8 the other days. i buy them from PetSmart so they are pre-gutloaded. i use rep-cal with vit. d is phosphorus-free about every 4 days. i am having trouble keeping the humidity up past 20 percent so i try and mist when im home usually until it gets up to 60 percent. i havent seen my chameleon drink. His fecal is black and white little log looking shapes. i know he has been tested for parasites when he was at the store. he had a lot and got treated for them that was 6-7 months ago

I have a repti breeze xl i believe 36x36x48. i have the reptisun 10.0 and a 75 watt basking light and infared night light. 9am-9pm lights are on 9pm-9am night light is on. his temp in the day is around 80 and 65 at night. i have to pathos plants in my cage and a reptile vines. there arent any fans or vents the cage in about 2 ft off the ground and the top reaches about 7 ft. im located in northern california in the valley

I am no pro and dont have much of an idea why his eye could be closed but maybe its because hes getting to close to the uvb light? ive heard some people say the 10.0 is too strong but ive also heard poeple use the 10.0 and have no problems. I dont think he needs a night light unless temperatures are too low at night. I would also recommend calcium with d3 twice a month, multivitamins twice a month and calcium without d3 every feeding. If I am wrong somebody correct me.. For the humidity, up the misting and y if you havent already, you can purchase real plants that are on the safe list and re-pot them with organic soil and if the humidity still is low you can put a shower liner around the back and sides of the encloser to help keep the humidity in. I only covered one side and the back and it helped a lot.

A couple things. First off, buying crickets from PetsMart does not make them gutloaded, much less of quality. While likely not contributing to your current problem, no crickets bought from anywhere are properly gutloaded on arrival. Ever. Much more likely over-bacteria loaded.

Could easily be a vitamin A issue. I am sending you a PM on it. If you buy into what I am saying in that PM, and follow the protocol, please post results here 5-10 days afterwards. Good luck.

i have lined 2 sides of the cage with a cover and it does seem to keep up the humidity. and for the reptisun light i was mistaken it was the 5.0 i just found my receipt with it on it. as for the other calcium and vitamin supp. where can i find a good one. i looked at my local store and they only have them with d3 in it.

I found the vitamin, and calcium without d3 at a store called big als here in Canada but I'm sure if you check the sponsors on this forum they would have whatever you need
