My cameleon broke its tail! Help please!

My little brother picked up a sick baby cameleon today. It has no mother. I think it was abandoned. I don't think it can find food on its own. Its tail is cut--a portion of the tail is just hanging. It is very very small, about the size of a thumbnail (not including the tail). I'm not sure what to do with the tail. I think it is a big hinderance. It can't really move well. What should I do? Do I keep him? My brother's science class keeps several cameleons so he knows somewhat how to keep a cameleon. Or should I move the baby cameleon outside? Please help me!

What kind of chameleon is it & where are you? Those make a lot of difference in what you should do. Also most baby chameleons never see Mom for long if live births & never if the are from eggs.

Putting it outside at this point will probably make him someone elses dinner. Get him to the vets if you can, if you can't maybe give him to your brothers teacher, if HE can bring him to the vets. If it's not kept clean, it can get infected quickly, which could spread. I hope your not thinking of taking it off? Nono nonononon...
