My cage for my new baby veiled.

UMMMMM...... NO :o It is a home made dripper it will have to be filled 2x a day but I mist 2x a day so not a problem.
 
I think that's a dripper Yoshi. :P

Looks good. Just remember to keep the digi display out of the enclosure. They don't deal with water very well.

edit: what are you doing for drainage?
 
The meter is only in their for the next 24hrs to regulate to temps. As for drainage if you look under the pothos their is take-a-long containers I just cut the lids to fit the bottom of the planters. It will work till she grows out of this cage.
 
If you mist properly, your going to have a lot more water in the bottom of the cage than just what goes in the plants.

A 5 minute mist with the hand mister from LLL uses over half a bottle. About a quarter of a gallon. That is a lot of water 2 times a day.

Yeah.
Don't mist for 5 minutes ... gads my poor little baby will be drowned!
Teresa, there is no drainage where she is now and it's fine.
Who mists baby veileds for 5 minutes???

edit: btw ... cage looks great and it was nice talking to you today. Add some more small branches for her to get around on and it will be perfect!
 
I am going to petsmart and get some baby bio vine for her. Not to worry I mist till all of the leaves are dripping then allow for drying, with a dripper going for the rest of the time while at work. I do mist the large cages the same but it does take about 5 min. ;) Thank you for your time today Brad!:D
 
You can pay for baby biovine or you can just give her some little sticks from a tree in the yard (that's what I do).

I would love to give her natural sticks from my yard however; we just had a tree fall and we trimmed the trees and did a full yard stick removal. Not to mention my dogs shred any wood they can find.:rolleyes:
Maybe I could get some from the neighbors.

Well I do. As told to do so by everything I've read. Now I'm not talking about a tiny baby. But I assumed that for a 3 month old and up, that is what is needed. Is this wrong? I also assume that 3 months old is pretty standard for young Veileds to be sold and shipped, hence I also assumed the OP was getting a 3ish month old.
 
I bought one of those pesticide sprayers from walmart for about $8 for misting. Only takes a couple seconds to douse the whole enclosure, and its 3x2x6. You can always find interesting wood formations if you look for sticks in riverbeds. Of course when you go home, make sure to boil the wood, then cook them in the oven at 400* for about an hour to kill any critters that might be on, or in it.
 
Yes it can be a PITA. All of my cages have containers to empty so one more is not a problem. I am a chameleon slave in the mornings.:p
 
Id have thought misting for 5 minutes solid be a bit much for any sized cham. Unless you misted through the top of the cage so it fell like soft rain maybe. I never misted mine that much, a few sprays and that was it.
That was mostly on the plants, not the cham unless it was in shed.
I always relied primarily on the dripper.

When I get my girl she will be aprox. 2 months Is that correct Brad? She will not be shipped we are both in Colorado.
 
Here is one thing that might varied from one person to another.

I actually do mist 5 minutes/ session.
and yes the water comes from the top to simulate rain.

I do not use dripper at all.
And, since i only use 1 misting nozzle for my herpmist, there is a spot where my chameleons can get away from misting if they choose to do so.
Majority of the time, they actually stay and drink the droplets falling on their mouth creases. When they had enough, they just run away from it.

I know several people actually mist 30 minutes. Their chameleons are healthy.
Do note the fact that I allow complete drying time in between sessions.

Any way that can deliver enough water intake without compromising the health of your chameleon is good.
Some choose dripper, some choose mister, and some combine the two.
Whatever necessary to do the job.

The animal is about half that old but is eating and drinking great and will not be shipped. Teresa will have no trouble raising her.

I might mist the cristatus for five minutes, but I don't have a veiled of any age that I subject to that.

Just about everybody gets misted morning and night here (2 times a day) about 30 seconds to a minute each and the adults have drippers , the babies do not ... poor little dehydrated babies:rolleyes:
