My baby isn't doing too well...

My panther chameleon (8 months old- blue bar) got an eye infection- I began treating it by soaking him and allowing him to clean his eye. The exotic vet we use for the store does not see reptiles and so I did the next thing I could for the time being and came to this forum. I began rinsing his eyes with a straight saline solution and they seemed to be getting better and then he turned black. I began force feeding his to make sure he was still getting his nutrients and after a few days of force feeding and soaking he seems to be starting to get his color back. He is not cold- in fact he moves away from his light and just lays there. He has always been active but these last few days it seems as if he isn't going to make it. Please help me if you can. :(:(:(:confused::confused:

If he does have an active eye infection (what specific signs make you think its an infection?) it would probably need specific antibiotic treatment rather than rinsing and soaks. That would involve a vet. There are optically safe antibiotics available from most vets. However, eye problems can be symptoms of other health issues too which may be the real reason he's not doing well. Pics and more detailed husbandry info from the form will help us help you.
