Well, not to count the chickens before they hatch but I am quite excited to say one of my two Ambilobe panthers has now laid a Third!! Clutch of eggs. Some a little smaller than others, but all look pretty darn good. I have an additional female who has laid a single clutch at this time, so in total up to 116 eggs. I have been waiting for this and finally some success
she has only bred successfully I think once with my male and yet at least so far ( ~ 4 months and 2 months respectively incubating) neither clutch has any eggs molding over or shrinking. Rather they appear to be growing
anybody feel free to chime in on what your experiences are with sperm retention and hatch rates of clutches such as this is of interest to me. I also breed tarantulas and know they can retain sperm for long periods of time so hopefully from what I have gleamed from the knowledge of other chameleon breeders so far I stand a good chance to have a decent number of 2nd and 3rd clutches fertile, but maybe slightly less robust as number of clutches increases. Wish me luck and I will have some member specials if I get neonates to say thanks for all of the help, encouragement, and knowledge provided by the members here. Keep up the good work everyone!!! Oh, and 35 eggs this time. Whoa!!
