Here is my new ambanja clutch and the parents that made them. Copulation was on 9-09-09, and she laid 24 eggs on 10-02-09. I am going to try sphagnum moss as an incubation medium and I was trying to decide if I should buy a mini fridge incubator for $100.00 as compared to using my closet.

You got me :) and as a matter of fact this is from your ambanja line. So I know I have great little ambanja eggs.

Let's see....$100.00? Or free? Hmmm.........tough call :D

Yes, that is my prob. spend $100 or put in my closet for free. The only problem is I have Nosy be eggs, Ambanja eggs, Ambilobe eggs, and Nosy Faly eggs. My Sambava should lay any day. So I will have aprox. 150 eggs and counting when my samabava lays. I think the mini fridge will be nice since I have so many eggs and I can keep the ideal temps. needed with ease. I know the closet works well, but I worry of temperature changes.

Also, todnedo The old man is Mr. Ambanja, Eric thompson got him from you and he is a stunning Ambanja. Great genetics there for sure.

If you've successfully hatched and raised healthy babys out of the closet in the past, why change your method?

I know that is what I am contemplating as well. I have heard great things about the mini fridge so I was trying to decide if i should change it up. Not sure. Fall is here, I am not running A/C or heat yet and temps at night are 63-70F and daytime 73-78F. In a month or so I will turn my heat on and set my furnace at 68F. This is why I am considering the mini fridge incubator, to keep the consistant temps. I desire for the eggs. Tough call, but as the saying goes " dont fix if it isnt broken". So I cant decide.

I believe the female you have is from me not the sire of the eggs.

I just checked your right the female is from you. Either way they are both pretty ambanjas. This female is one of the prettiest girls, she has a nice, pink color w/ purple bars. You have nice chams, Ill call you when I need to add another to my breeding plans!

LOL, you like my marketing pitch dont you! You caught me, I was mistaken, however, luckily I keep records so I checked. I actually got her from Eric because he was over populated and he said he got her from you.

Your "marketing pitch" is borderline on false claims. Many of snakes have tried to slithering into this chameleon community. All of which have been quickly beheaded by the community. Just be honest and you'll do fine. :)

Thanks my friend, I appreciate your concern. However, sorry, I do not mess w/ snakes yet they are amazing animals. :p Also, just because I am not a high ranking member on the forum doesnt mean I am clueless. I have many chameleon books and spent 5yrs in a University, I earned a double major in Fine Arts, and Zoology, and a minor in Botany. Then I went to law school . Thirdly, I only home healthy chams that will thrive w/ a new owner. I also have customers that I can refer you to that are very happy. As for not being honest, I have plenty of experience with over 26 chameleons currently. I am also sitting on over 150 eggs of many locales and more on the way. I have juveniles to elders and I have a true pation for chameleons. There is always room for learning so I keep a close circle of experts and friends to keep informed. Since I found the forum, I have met new smart and interesting people to hear opinions from and found a great tool. I have met some great breeders that provided me w/ excellent bloodlines as well. Thanks for your advice, I'll keep it close to my heart. :)

The real question is are you getting 100% hatch rate from the closet alone?
If you are, I doubt you would even be asking this.

It comes down to if you believe the mini fridge would improve your hatch percentage.
One baby and you should break even with the mini fridge and still own it :)

Actually my question would be have you hatched anything? All of the credentials you just listed don't mean much if you have not hatched anything.

The closet works well, but I do lose a couple from time to time and my temps. Fluctuate quite a bit. I have hatched many locales but I have so many eggs I was considering the mini fridge to avoid loss as best of my ability. Other breeders highly recommend it and they have temp variations as well. While other breeders swear by the closet. I posted the thread for informational purposes not for thread hijackers who try to dictate my experience and try to dictate who is in the chameleon community. There will always be haters that think they are the all knowing. I am here so I can learn new techniques and gain more knowledge.

If you are looking to stabilize your incubation temps that mini fridge won't do it. The temps will fluctuate, and it cools with a condenser, meaning it will dry your eggs out as well.

Thanks fidel this is what kind of valuable info. I'm looking for. Much appreciation

I am not much into "dictating experience", but when someone comes on this forum and pretends to have more experience than they do it sends people into a frenzy. Here is some advice, and it is well meaning beleive it or not, but when someone quotes as much education as you have, you should carefully check your posts and your website for spelling errors. That kind of thing ruins ones credibility. If I went on a website, and did not know the person, that would certainly send me running. Another thing-I see no babies for sale on your website-did I miss them? I have seen you post no threads about babies, but in Septemeber you were looking for a gravid panther of any locale-to me that is a strange request. You could be the nicest person in the world, and raise some quality Panthers, but it is obvious to me why you are ruffling feathers around here.
