Munchkin layed her eggs!!

Munchkin is our one year old veiled. This is her first clutch and she layed today...day 21 after breeding. I heard her digging at about 2:00 pm today and peeked at her and she was in the very bottomn of her laying tub. When I came home at about 10:00pm she was asleep in her tree and the hole was covered up. I dug up her eggs and found 17...does that sound like a small number to those of you with experience? She still looks kind of fat, I felt her abdomen and can't tell if there are still more in there. Also I know you are supposed to put a hole in the lid, how big though. Like a hole with a safety pin or a hole with a pencil. Any ideas on all of this is much appreciated.

So its 9:00am and shes cack in the box. I covered her cage up again. No one had any ideas on this???? Has anyone ever had a female lay some eggs, cover the hole, and go back the next day to lay more?

I think this happens occasionally.
Give her privacy again and hope for the best.
She should be okay.
After depositing all the eggs, she should be really skinny.

If she has more eggs to lay, more likely to dig a new hole. Was she disturded during the laying process? 17 sounds like a healthy number of eggs to lay. I just had a two year old lay 28 on the first of June. But really only 25 looked viable.
