I am a new cham owner and eventually would like to have more then one. How does a owner house more then one cham? Different cages? How far apart do they need to be? Can they free range at the same time? Sorry I know I have a lot questions all the time :)
Just want to make sure Im doing everything i can and the right way for my reptile family members

Welcome to the forum! Yes they will need multiple cages. In some instances chams can co habitate, but most of the time no. The cages can be right next to eachother, but they shouldnt be able to see eachother. Alot of members use a sheet ofplastic in between cages. As far as free ranging goes, if the chams dont get along they should not be able to see eachother. Any more questions just ask away! Were all here to help:)

I own two. An 11 month old Male Veield, and a 8 Month old Male Hoehnelli.
The Veield Kink, is free ranged.
The hoe is caged, thoguh he will be free ranged when he gets older.
While you HAVE to hae seperate cages for them (cept for pygmies) They should not be able to see each other.
However, mine can because they are frriends and show no stress.

Though this is an exception, not to rule.
So
seperate cages
dont let them see each other.
their cages can be right next to each other so long as they cant see each other.

Yep, different cages for each individual animal. They don't even have to be far apart, they could be right next to each other as long as you have a visual divider between the cages (I use a translucent plastic sheet, it lets light through but they can't tell what's on the other side of it. Keep the cages brighter).

I used to free range several panthers, a female veiled, and a male Jackson's together in a room dedicated to them and I faced several issues. Things like my Jackson's confusing a male panther for a female and trying to mount him, or my veiled reaching sexual maturity and hating the very sight of the males... So it worked with some of them and not with others, just like kids at a playground. Some form friendships and some do not. So how any chameleon is going to react to another one is up to them to decide. Therefore, the safest thing to do is to have individual space for each of them and then take turns free ranging.
