I got my mulberry bush from ebay . it was like 28 Bucks or so .

i have the Nextdoor app, it’s like Facebook but for the area you live in so you can talk to your neighbors. I posted I was looking for mulberry leaves and some ppl offered me the leaves from there tress. I also had someone give me a free baby mulberry tress for free. Maybe ask around your neighborhood you would be surprised how friendly some neighbors are

I live in California , I bought two a like 3 years ago from a vender on ebay , the first year I let them settle in , the next year I started to shape them so they can be wider than tall . one was placed in a pot and its doing okay , but the one that was placed in the ground is about 8-9 feet tall ! ill try to take some pics when I get of work

really ? I thought everything thrived in Florida lol !
the plants seem pretty hardy once established , I have no green thumb and they seem to be doing great !

I think I heard/read that they are self fertile idk, but if they aren’t then you could probably tell by the flower
Females produce fruit.

Check with local nurseries. Fall is a good time to plant, though spring can work as well.

They're a beautiful—if messy—shade tree. Lots of birds & squirrels.
IDK what they mean by "rather warm"; we had a 40' mulberry in the backyard of our last house in the Northeast US that did fine in the winters. Your local nursery should know.
They grow like weeds around me in Ohio. If they are abundant in the wild where you live you could take a couple cuttings from a tree and propagate them into individual trees. Neighbors as mentioned, may allow you to dig up nuisance plants.
...Or if you just happen to know where some grow along a tree line in the woods or bike path you could always do a 'free' removal of the saplings. I cannot say this method is the most legal, but works.
