Mulberry Farms Has No Silkworms?

I just tried to order some medium sized silkworms from Mulberry Farms, but it says unavailable. I then clicked through all the rest of the sizes and all are unavailable. Has anyone ever come across this problem before? What's the problem?

it might have to do with lack of food, and ability to grow them, or maybe they are just sold out and are working on new cultures.

i know china had a mulberry famine not to long ago which killed off ALOT of mulberry.

We can only hope and assume that their business has boomed!

Did you call and talk to someone or did you just try to order online?

Yes, I ran into this issue before in the past. I called and I emailed them at the email provided on the web site. They replied back and actually DID have them in stock, but I had to buy 2 cups. Just an FYI, good luck.

They are out. Wanted to order a bunch for the show but that was a no go. He may have enough to fill a small order but prob would not be worth the shipping.

Mulberry has been far short of the demand for months. That is why you don't see the mediums or larges very often. Food is not an issue, the big shipment came in 2 months ago.

Another option is buying the eggs, if patience and time are what you have LOTS of.;)

Try Coastal silkworms, they have had some.:D

Shanned... Did you look up his adress? notice where the location is... ;)

And I just got home from Mulberry Farms... and I got bugs. :p

Guys, call them before making threads about how they are out of bugs. Bugs aren't a machine like a can maker... ya don't throw a switch and bugs come out of the machine... they have to be grown... and like most living things can be unpredictable. Ya can't count your eggs till they hatch.... so If mulberry puts down 50k eggs to hatch for worms.... it doesn't mean he expects 50 silks worms in 5 days..... sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. ya just gotta roll with the waves.

Personally, I try and keep enough bugs on hand to not worry if there is a shortage of one kind of bug. If I can't get silks or HWs, I feed supers or butters or crickets. Those three are by far the easiest to keep and I look at silkworms and HWs as 'treats' even though silks can be semi stable food.... they aren't a staple on the market.

I ordered 1000 smalls last week and they are mediums now, some starting to be on the large size. Today is the first day I started feeding some off. My silkie tub looks nice with all the worms in there.

Well said :)

I never rely on one supplier....Cush you are in San Diego and if you are looking for a back up supplier then try these guys. I have used them and never had a problem and if you are close you maybe able to pick them up so you don't have to pay shipping. I usually pickup some super and phoenix worms at the same time.
