Moving

Hey, folks! I have a seven month old male veiled chameleon, and he absolutely HATES anyone getting too near to him (to touch him is unthinkable). He's always been that way.
Anyhow, I'm going to be moving residences soon, and I need to figure out how to transport him! I don't want to leave him in the cage, I feel like that would be dangerous. I know how chameleons should be moved, but I haven't found any resources that suggest how to transfer a cham when they refuse to be held, even for just a minute.
Any suggestions?

I have never had to move mine as I have never moved but could you get him on a stick and then take that stick out and into the container he will be transported in

Use some branches, I use my hand to make my Cham climb up on the branch I have on my other hand and kind of trick him out, once he's out he's not too bad, I use a deep plastic container with a bird perch attached inside and some air holes for fresh air. I use the plastic containers that have an attached lid that meets in the middle like a book. Works great but it is a little work maneuvering him out. I try and do it as fast as I can to minimize the stress of catching him.

I've heard the suggestion of getting a smaller travel carrier, putting in a branch or two for them to hold on to, then covering that carrier in a blanket so they're likely to fall asleep.

Are you going to use some sort of mesh one or just a Rubbermaid type enclosure?

There's a product called Critter Keeper, it's designed for moving smaller animals. I was planning on using that or something like it.
