My chameleon is a nosey be panther I had a bucket of sand in her enclosure but took it out when I cleaned because we are moving in a few days an she has never laid eggs before. However I have a hibiscus plant in there and noticed some eggs in the mud 2 days ago , I watered the plant because it was dry incase she wanted to dig again it then exposed eggs a bit more but yesterday when I came home from work they were hidden again. Now today I noticed she has been digging again because the shape has changed and there a small hole there where it's been covered up differently. How long will this last? I am moving house in 2 days the moving men are coming in to take all our stuff to new house, what's the best thing to do?!

Extra info: at first I didn't realise the eggs were there and been putting in locust which she has been eating but slower than normal she had also been drinking when I spray her water and I was giving her little strokes like I usually do and she seemed okay with it not angry or anything but I don't disturb her now.

Okay. Thanks I will try and fit vivarium in passenger seat then ( I only have 2 seated car which makes it difficult)

move

How were you going to move your cham in the first place? I hope mama is done laying. She will be sooo stressed no matter what.

Not sure I have ever known of a Chameleon laying eggs over a few day period. All of our gals after finally selecting there acceptable spot, digs their hole, lays and lay there entire clutch, and then cover it back up again. It's usually a 2-3 day process digging their selective hole, and i don't know if it's just me, but it is always, always, always, completely at the bottom of the lay bin. The little buggers certainly make me work for the eggs, but it's worth it, those little girls sure work hard themselves. My only though would be that she is getting interrupted while laying. You might want to put the enclosure somewhere where she can't get bothered for the next few days, except for feeding and misting, and let her do her thing before the move.

Drop off the whole thing, set up and all, at your closet and most trusted friend's house. Lay down the ground rules: DON'T TOUCH! Come by as needed, over the next week, handle your business, move your house, unpack your eggs, take care of mommy, etc... When she is up to being moved, get her back home. You will be wiped out by weeks end, your friend may be a little stressed, but you'll have little ones in about six months. Oh yeah, get your friend a free cham baby for his effort. Crisis avoided. :D

Just a couple of things. i have had a cham lay eggs across a five day period. She never covered any of the, or used her laying bin. She just dropped them seemingly at random. They hatched fine, just as her first clutch did.If the eggs are fertile, you should try to remove then asap. Watering a plant where she laid eggs could kill the eggs. Next idea, can you put a 5 gallon bucket half full of play sand and soil in the other front see by you? Just seatbelt the bucket put a small stick in for her and cover the bucket with something like cloth that will allow air flow. But if you are moving a very short trip leaving her at a friends might be easier. Either way, best of luck.
