I need some advice ASAP. Here's the situation. I live in southern California, and my wife is living temporarily in southern Washington. We have a clutch of veiled eggs which are nearing parturition. They should hatch in a week or two. Right now they are here with me in California. The plan was for me to take care of them after they are born, since my house has a better heating and cooling system than the one my wife is currently living in. Unfortunately, my mother just had a pretty bad stroke and has been on life support for the past two weeks. I am in no position to take care of them right now, and since my wife is down here in California helping me straighten out my mother's affairs, we agreed that she should take the eggs back to Washington with her. What we need to know is this: how harmful would the 1000-mile car trip be to the unhatched eggs? The climate will be carefully controlled—that's not a problem. We're just worried about the actual physical jostling caused by the car's movement. Will this be an issue? If so, is there any way we can minimize damage to the eggs?
