Mouth Rot

Hi there. I am new to the group and have 2 questions. First, I'm almost positive my 1.5yr old Sambava
has mouth rot. How do I treat it? Second, her nostrils are always covered and almost occluded all the time. I am aware her glands are near and a build up of white crusty stuff is normal but it looks like shed covering her nostrils. The crusty stuff is not wet and neither are her nostrils. This has been going on for a while but not sure if the covering is normal?

I can't quite see the nostrils and "crusty stuff" you described very well, but she may have a small spot of infection on her gumline. They can get small cuts from feeder shells or sores can develop under food debris. What I would be worried about is whether she has an ongoing sinus infection that might have spread to her mouth. If you open her mouth, do you see reddish patches, sores, or clumps of pale cheesy looking inside? These are signs of stomatitis (generic term for mouth rot). The problem is identifying the underlying cause. A vet should take a culture from the sore to determine which bacteria is active and select a specific antibiotic to treat it with. The two might be related and that's important to know.
