Periodically i see my 7 month old ambilobe with her mouth open i believe she is developing eggs atm she eats drinks just fine been feeding butter worms lately to up the calcium for egg development her basking temp is 84-86 her humidity is 60-75% she gets misted every 3 hours for 1 min is this something they do when prego ?

i think it is just a stage of pregnancy. although i am not an complete expert so i would rely on the comments of a member/senior member/vetranarian because i am only a junior member.

I think so also no weezing no heavy breathing nothing abnormal just her mouth wide open for a couple seconds

FIrst off- mouth open is NOT a part of egg development.

Second off OP- how are you measuring those temps? what tool are you using?

next- chams open their mouths to regulate their temps, so if shes too hot, she would open her mouth, Unless it is a respiratory infection.

No respiratory problems held her for 30 or more mins no weezing i was rubbing her tummy look for eggs and i use a thermometer not like im licking my finger sticking it in there and going it feels like 85 come on now lmfao

The reason i asked is that some people use the petco zoo med velcro gauges, which suck.

If you are using a digital gauge, then it is more accurate.

But if the temps are too high, she will gape to cool off.

You probably wont be able to feel eggs. I have felt females 2 days before they laid and couldnt feel much, so thats not an accurrate check.

You should have a lay bin in with females at all times, just in case.

Also, it could be the beginnings of a RI. so just keep an eye on her.

Extra, stringy saliva can be present, as well as coughing, wheezing, and clicking noises.

Only symptoms thus far are open mouth only once in a while not everday been happening for a week ill keep checking her out she has a laying bin with appropriate substrate and size thank you ill kep checking her out

We always love pics, but i dont think its necessary for this.

Most likely shes just trying to cool off.

Make sure you have a part of her cage where she can be at the top but in cooler temps, and she can move in and out of her basking spots too warm up and/or cool off.

I would probably add some foliage towards the top more.

So she has places to crawl and hide.

you actually want it to take longer to find them in the cage, which makes them feel more comfortable
