mouth half open

maybe it is the temp the ambient was up to 80. i dont think she should have felt threatened no one was around her when she started doing it and she is not aggressive

Our vet said it is usually caused from being to hot (kinda like a dog panting)(If nothing around is threatening) I've seen Fred do it but our vet said not to worry if he has a place that they can get away from the heat, if they do and they don't, their just being lazy!! (Fred has more cage than he knows what to do with, he just gets lazy from time to time!! I've only seen him do it twice)

My chams do it when they are hot. When I see that happen I mist the cage and it helps cool them down a bit.

What kind of cham do you have? An 80F basking spot doesn't typically jump out at me as being too hot.

EDIT: Read your post wrong. 80F for an ambient temp seems hot to me

Is there any mucus or bubbles in the mouth? Sometimes a cham will hold their mouth open when they are having difficulty breathing due to a URI.

See Ya,
