Most reptile keepers are queer?

So I’ve noticed a lot of reptile/amphibian keepers tend to be part of the LGBTQIA+ community and I’m curious to get some percentages. I’ve posted polls on a few different reptile sites and I’ll report back with my findings in a few weeks. This isn’t meant to offend anyone and if I missed what u are I’m sorry it wouldn’t let me add more options.

I think reptiles in general has gain an appeal to many group of people. Not just gay. But men and women alike. Young kids too.
I have put my cast in the vote where I align with.

Complex subject! My belief is that we are all a bit of ‘all of the above’, whether we admit it to ourselves or the world.
Here’s my short take on it. As who we are is becoming better understood and accepted in society, reptiles are being better understood and accepted similarly.

See this is actually why I love the reptile hobby. I personally don’t think there are more* queer people or any type of person for that matter. It’s an awesome hobby because it is an interest that doesn’t seem to align with any type of person. You come across just about every type in equal amounts I feel. Men, women, gay, straight, young, old, all races, etc. It’s a beautiful thing because it brings so many people together that probably wouldn’t interact otherwise.

I am straight, tbh I don’t even know what a lot of the categories mean(not intended to offend).

I don’t know why it matters what religion, sexual orientation, colour, race, etc a person is…we are all on this forum because we love chameleons or are fascinated by them and deep down inside nothing else matters.

I also love many other critters and enjoy studying them, testing their abilities to figure things out, etc. I don’t think my interests would change if I were gay, pan, bi, lesbian or anything else.

Right now I’m trying to see if I can get the blue jays to mimic the sounds I make at them, because other corvids like crows and ravens can. So far one out of the flock does to some extent. That one also can figure out how to get two peanut shells in it beak at the same time…but the others haven’t. I’d still be doing this no matter what my sexual orientation, etc was.

I can “call” the cardinals to come and get nuts to some extent too.

I trained my iguana to use a cat litter box and to climb over a gate instead of trying to dig under it.

Is sexual orientation really what makes us have interests in certain animals? I don’t think so personally.

When you see the younger hobbyists, it can certainly appear that way. A lot of us who grew up on the internet seem to skew "outside the norm" especially.
That said, I was transgender for a decade and it was actually a bit after joining the forum I decided "maybe I don't feel that way anymore" so perhaps the reptile keeping sucked away my queerness actually
