Morphology Discussion

ok so in order to avoid hi-jacking a photogallery thread i'm gonna start my own here in hopes to get a few answers or perhaps just get pointed in right direction as to where to look. If anyone has any other questions/topics they want to talk about, throw them out there and we'll get answers.

1. Are there differences from locale to locale in the characteristics (physical/temperment/diet) other than just color and pattern?

2. Has anyone done any research into what determined why particular color/patterns developed in certain areas and not in others? I realize why they're separate with islands and mountains, but why did ambilobes have such a variety of colors where nosybe's are almost solid blue. Could it be that those with those particular colors happened to be the strongest males in the area? or was it something such as the females preferring one color over another? I think we can almost for certain rule out food because the color of each locale seems to withstand for generations in captive breeding while the diet in captivity is pretty uniform for each breeder, and not the same as in the wild.

3. it goes along with the 2nd question , but i was wondering if anyone has ever tested as whether females of a certain locale prefer the males of the same locale over those of a different locale?

I know the practical side of testing some of these is tough, and next to impossible without a large facility, but it's kinda fun thinking about it.

or maybe i'm just really bored:confused:
