I was wondering if chameleons like company? I know in the pet stores they have several in one enclosure. I was thinking maybe my baby would like a buddy to play with. And if I get a second, is a baby okay to put with a youth?

what type of chameleon do you have? you should never put two males together, it stresses them out, chams are very territorial and solitary animals...

The answer to this is all over this forum. No. Chameleons are solitary and the general rule is one to a cage. They will never "play", and you can do more harm than good when they stress each other to illness and potential death. Pygmies and a few other non-starter species are an exception as they are fine in groups if housed in the correct size caging.

You should generally not put two females together either. And housing animals of the opposite sex togethernresults in early breeding and stress on the animals.

Tiny babies can be housed together but when they get older they should not. If there are larger ones at the pet store in the same enclosure, then it is wrong. Alot of times, pet stores know nothing about chameleons, but unfortunately still sell them. They are really solitary creatures and putting them in the same tank of enclosure can lead to stress and even fighting one another.

Thanks all. She is a veiled and I will keep to just one :) Was trying to think of a way to make her happier:D
