Walter is eating much better now, you can see his full tummy. It makes me feel really good that he's fully hydrated and has a lot of energy now, but he still has a few remnants of his dysecdysis. I want to soak him in water, but I don't think he's even 4 months old. We had some issues there starting out, and I don't want more complications arising from his bad shed, but I don't want him to be under constant stress because of me.

What do you guys think, soak? No soak? I don't really know when I should intervene on this and the vet didn't say either, although I guess I could call him.

His hornworms and phoenix worms are finally shipping out today, so hopefully next week he'll have a really good shed after eating some good food. I need to get him nice and chubby so I can buy him a huge cage.

what exactly happened to him?
He started shedding but it didnt all come off at the same time, so he didn't eat for like 4 days. I had his temperatures too high for the first week (i've only had him for about a month) and he got slightly dehydrated, and I wasn't giving him a source of preformed vitamin a. So I've fixed all that, but his shed isn't done yet.

You've had your male panthers from the time before they got their color, right? When they were young, what color were they when they were sleeping?

I just got my first panther this past weekend. Hes at the age where his color is really starting to look awesome. I just looked at him and hes on his sleeping perch ready to go to bed and hes really green/yellowish with blue barring and his tail is almost white with red dots on it. Have you noticed some irregular coloring?

He is pretty indeed. He's gonna look awesome soon. My chameleon is a very light cream color with red bars at night. He looks cool, I was just surprised what color he turned.

after mine falls to sleep and begins his deep sleep in chameleon dreamland he'll turn bright yellow. Like banana yellow with light blue barring and a pure white horizontal streak and the red dots down his tail. Im sure you'll be pumped when yours reaches the age where his colors really start coming out.

Its important to keep their vitamin A at stable but safe levels. I use Rep-Cal Herptivite with Beta Carotene and my feeder crickets are always loaded with collared greens and other green vegitables, which are high in vitamin A. The Kammers recommend, which is what most people recommend actually and its been keeping my veiled healthy since i got her at 5 weeks old. Havnt had a shedding problem yet. It says on the Kammers site "HERPTIVITE is the first reptile vitamin without Vitamin A. Instead we use Beta Carotene which is an anti-oxidant that is converted into Vitamin A in a regulated way, so there is no threat of Vitamin A toxicity"

I got him from Kammerflage Creations actually (they're really great, and his dad was awesome), and I followed all their instructions as far as the supplements, and he was healthy when he got here. I give him the Herpetivite with Beta Carotene, and I use the gutload they suggest... It's really weird what has happened. All I can figure is that his low-level dehydration might have offset his balanced level of vitamin a enough that he couldn't shed well this time... and it didn't help that he didn't eat for a while, because he couldn't gain more nutrients. Some say that they can only use preformed vitamin a sources, so i'm gutloading his crickets to have extra vitamin a for every other day for one week.

On the road....

I'm glad you are getting things squared away with your babe. He will probably do another full shed soon since he is young. I would shower or soak him regularly. Not necessarily every day. Just good cage mistings every day. The proper temperature and humidity will help a lot. The Kammers are great :)

Thank you, he seems better every day. He has a humidifier now so I hoped that would help. If he is doing well in six months or so, I am thinking about buying another male from the Kammers.
