Monthly Autoshipment of Crickets?

Hi,

I'm a soon-to-be new Chameleon owner. My very first chameleon, a blue-barred Ambanja male, will be arriving Tuesday morning! (I cannot wait! :D) I found some crickets for him at a local pet store. But the selection was poor and a little older than I wanted for a four-month old baby.

So, my question is... does anyone currently get automatic, month shipments of crickets and other feeders? If so, what companies have you used? What companies would you recommend? I'd love to find someplace that I could just sign up and get them sent automatically so I don't have to worry about it.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Use the "search" button and explore this site for places people use, or check out the site's sponsors list - Ghann's Crickets is a sponsor and where a lot of folks (myself included) get their feeders.

I receive shipments from Ghann's, but not currently set up on automatic delivery. The prices cannot be beat for the amount I need.

I order 4,000 of the half inch for $40 with two day shipping to South Florida. Not set up on automatic as I only found Ghann's about a little over two months ago when I added three newbies to my collection. Chameleon's Northwest recommended them.

They are packed well and are 98% alive on arrival.

I also ordered from LLL Reptile on monthly replenishments prior to Ghann's, but the prices for my quantity cannot compete with Ghann's.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the great info guys! :) I appreciate it. I will definitely check them out.

I had found a couple of places that did autoship but they either had really costly shipping or didn't ship less than a 1000 at a time. My critter keeper is intended for no more than 500 and I only need a 100 at max a week. I'm afraid if I buy too many, they'll get too big for my guy. I wouldn't want to risk him choking.

I wouldn't want to risk him choking.

I don't think this would be a rel issue. at 5 months he should be able to handle large crickets no problem.... And you should be feeding him a lot of crickets.... so I bet he'll eat through more than 500 a month. You have to remember crickets die off and especially with the cricket crisis right now.... I don't know where you are from but on the west coast getting crickets is an issue.

Yes there is a cricket crisis going on! Top Hat crickets which is where cricketsonline.com and lll ship from is clean. Had some bad orders from them they replaced everyone of them but my last order was fine lasted a month

I get mine from Rainbow who I guess is getting them from Armstrong? Not really sure... but a good amount are dead in the box... :(

I think it has more to do with transit... not virus.

Oh... Hmmm. That is something to think about. I was surprised to see that I have crickets dying off daily. I wasn't really expecting that. Maybe the large quantities is the way to go as he get older.

For me I had no other choice because no where around here carries a small enough size for my chams. Ordering 250 for 2 chams wasn't cost effective so I started ordering 500 for 2 dollars more. Yes they do die off daily so for me keeping a quantity was the only way to go.
