Molly updates... pic heavy

So here are some pictures of Molly. She is doing well, no worse for ware. Her eye has not gotten worse but it doesn't seem to be getting much better either, maybe some stronger antibiotics would do it but I don't know. Hopefully it doesn't have to be removed. Her other eye has been more closed lately, although she does get around fine and seems to have more energy. I find her roaming all around her cage. Her colors are beautiful! She is still a bit skinny but she is eating better so I am going to try to feed her at least 5 crickets and fruit/veggie baby food with supplements mixed in every other day. She gets the baby food as a treat between crickets for being good and eating them lol. Also some supers every few days or whenever one sheds. Captions for each photo, enjoy =)

Sitting on my hand, being the perfect model.

"It's time for my close-up" As you can see she keeps her eye closed most of the time. I'm wondering if it is out of place? She seems to need to lift it to open it.

Can you post a picture of her face from the front please...it looks like there are two swellings between the two eyes....if it is and its an infection that might be what's causing the eye problem.

BTW she's not skinny!

Yup. and the bumps between here eyes won't go away, we've even tried to lance them and no luck... i'm settling for she thinks she's a jacksons :D And yes she has been seen for her eyes multiple times. She's on antibiotics and ointments but no change really. Most of the times I can see her ribs and her casque looks thin so I am trying to feed her more. She has only been eating like 1 or two crickets every couple days.

Have you tried a different Vet? Those eyes look terribly painful and it seems if treatment is not working the right diagnosis has not been made.

She's been to two vets. There are not many around here. I don't know if antibiotics work well on her. She has been on them basically her whole life, all different types ad probably all the ones out there, plus eye ointment.

If those lumps are infected it won't be enough to just lance them. The pus of a chameleon is the texture of thick cottage cheese and it needs to be cleaned/scraped out, flushed and have a culture and sensitivity test done so that she can be put on the appropriate antibiotic. If they swell again, they need to be cleaned out again. There can sometimes be quite a pocket of pus in that kind of lump. I'm not sure if that will make the bagginess of they eyes go away but it might stop the infection from going systemic or moving into the brain.

I know I wanted to cut into them more and try to really get into them but the vet wants to leave them. She thinks they may just drain themselves. I would do it myself but I do not have anything for pain and I don't want to hurt her.

Those lumps should be cleaned out while she is out (under anesthetic) at any rate. Its too painful to be done while she's awake IMHO....and she will likely struggle and be extremely stressed out by the whole thing.

IMHO they won't drain themselves...the chameleon may wall them off, but eventually the infection will likely break free, may affect the bones and go systemic and the chameleon will die.

Is she on antibiotics now??

I know its a long shot but have you thought about shiping her to someone who has a great vet near them and having her treated? You could turn it into a vacation...my aunts sister in law flew her boxer to colorado to alamada east to have heart surgery when all the vets in GA said no....Im sure anyone on the forum would be glad to great you and her cause your a great cham mom....after all the time and money and effert you have been through one more long shot might help her....other than her eyes shes beautiful!!!!!

Anyone have any input or any help like what i mentioned to offer her??? I i did i would

Wow did you read my mind? LOL I as actually thinking about this earlier today. I have a vet I am going to try but if it's a bust I may consider it, but I don't know if she is healthy enough to survive the journey which is my only concern.

im glad we are on the same page...ask around see who is closeest and maybe instead of shiping her you could put the cost of shiping her into a meet half way road trip then she should be ok....
