Misting Systems/ Enclosure Makeover

Hi am new to this and am am getting supply information so that I can start to set up my adult enclosure. I do not have my Chameleon yet, but want things in order before I do bring one home. I will be getting a smaller cage for it as a baby but I am currently working on ideas for the used adult cage that I purchased

What misting system would you recommend. I have heard of the Habba Mist, Mist King and AquaZamp Rain Dome. What do you like about which system and why?

My adult cage is an 7ft oak cabinet that fits into a corner. It is similar to the cabinet in this photo http://www.cagesbydesign.com/images/MajesticBirdCagePhotoWall/60x23x34_Corner_Majestic_Bi.jpg but with 3 front screen panels. The actual inside cage dimentions are 51"H x 30"W x 24"D. The inside floor, ceiling and two back corner walls are made of a white material that is water resistant (something like a mylar plastic type mylar material.) and as said, the front 3 sides of the cage are screen material. I will also be cutting out the ceiling section behind the top canopy and replacing that with screen material for lighting and such. If putting in a misting system I assume I should also put maybe plexiglass with a drain or something to keep water from sitting on the bottom inside of the enclosure.

Any help help and advise on this project before I get is started??? Also how long before the baby would have to go from the baby enclosure to the adult enclosure? I plan to get either a Panther or a Veiled. As I said this will be my first Chameleon and I was to set up the best husbandy and enclosure possible for a happy and mostly healthy environment. I've personally owned a Habba Mist, and it was a waste of money. It just shoots out streams of water. It doesn't actually mist. I've hearded nothing but good things about Mist King Systems.

I've seen people put babies in huge enclosures but its not recommended. When your chameleon is usually around 9 months is when people normally move them into a adult enclosure.

The Mistking and Aquazamp are the two best options - one is Canadian and the other American, respectively, so shipping costs might be something to take into account. But both have excellent reputations. I have a Mistking and just loooove it, getting an automatic misting system is an excellent investment.

I moved my panthers into their 4'x2'x2' cages when they were about 4-5 months, depending on their size. By 6 months mine were definitely ready to go into their large cages. Being in a large cage doesn't have any bad points except the reduced ability to find food. But if you think this is a concern then all you have to do is either cup feed (put food in a cup or other small container and let him pick them out) or hand feed, by offering food between your fingers or at the end of tweezers.

I have used my mist king for over 2 years and love it. It is now running in our 15 foot long enclosure and still going great!

Great input. Thank you so much. So do most people that have these misting systems need to put some type of drip type tray in the bottom of the enclosures? I mean do they leave alot of water on the bottom of the cage or do they tend to mist just enough that the bottom of the enclosure would evaporate from the heat lamps and air? I'm the type of person that would be wiping the bottom of the cage daily for poop... would that be enough to wipe excess water???

Hmmm I wonder if a Mist King could plumb into several different enclosures .... say if I got more Chams down the line.... just add more tubing to it?

Yea I use a drip system just because of the amount of time I mist in my cages, even wiping once a day wouldn't be enough for me atleast but it's really your call. As far as mist king being able to handle multiple nozzles yes it does perfectly all I had to do was buy another misting nozzle and tubing to add to a separate cage and it works great!

i run 2 mistkings one on 9 cages covering a 12foot span in my montane room, it had worked great for me. probubly the single best investment...next to the chams themselves

I just purchased A Pro Mister from Pro-Products.com and it comes with metal nozzles on the 60 and 70 model and you can buy them for the 50 if you would like them. You can clean them if they where to plug up, and the pump comes with a 3 year warranty for the 50 model that runs 15 nozzles and a 4 year warranty for the 60 and 70 model the only difference is the 60 runs 25 nozzle and the 70 will run 50 nozzles, plus all the plastic is treated so you don't have any small parasites growing in your line plus the white tubing is clear an-off that you can see it if it starts to happen so you can change it out when the time comes. This model of mister is built in the USA.
