Misting System Advice, Please

Hi -

I'm fairly new to the cham world (and loving it). I have a RB Ambilobe, a Nosy Be, and a Veiled on the way (thanks, Jann).

I have been researching the MistKing system, and it looks like a great product. Once they are all old enough, they will each be housed in 48" tall screen cages.

Any advice on the product and/or the setup I should go for?

Thanks!!:D

Beginner system - 99.99
Add 5 T nozzles 5 X 14.25 - 71.25
Add timer - 29.95

Total for beginner - 201.99

Ultimate system - 187.99
3 T nozzles 3x14.25 - 42.75

Total for Ultimate - 230.74

So for $28 and some change you would also get:

10 tubing clips
3 Screen wedges
Zip Drip add on
and three premium nozzles. The nozzles I priced are the cheaper ones.

I have the beginner system and it works great but would not mind having the zip drip system addon as the nozzles due tend to drip for a minute or two after a run.

Really it is up to you but you cannot go wrong with anything from Mist King.

Yea, my whole thing cost me $180 for the beginner system, two extra T nozzles (I have 3 cages) and the timer. It's a lot of money, but it's worth every cent. You don't need anything more than the beginner system, I think, it works absolutely great. I was really surprised by how fine the mist is and how much my chams love it.

I don't think you need the zipdrip thing, mine only drip about 5 drops after the misting stops and that doesn't sound like a situation horrible enough to want to spend another $20 on, but it's up to you.

You could get it now for the baby chams, you don't have to wait until they're int he huge cages unless you don't want to make holes in all the cages they go through. I was always worried my little ones weren't drinking enough, and now I'm sure that they're getting enough water. I recommend that you follow the example of tropical rainforests and set your mister to give them long showers several times a day, instead of lots of small bursts of misting. 15-20 minute mistings in the early morning and late afternoon mimic what it's like in rainforests druing their wettest months, and gives the chams loooots of time to drink what they want, while 2-3 minutes might not be enough time.

Hope that helps! Most of it are just my opinions, and not everyone might agree with the long shower thing.
