Misting Schedule

I saw a post a while back of a recommended misting schedule...I just searched for about an hour and couldn't find it so I decided it was time to post a thread.

As of now I have the mistking ultimate value system hooked up to one enclosure 18x18x36 with two nozzles, one on the front corner and one on the back corner.

What would a proper misting schedule be? I have a male panther about 5 months old at the moment.

Also, if anyone can point me in the direction to a thread about this, that would be great as well. Thanks!!

I would do a 2 minute misting about 3-5 times a day. dependent on how fast your cage dries out, and how much water your particular cham needs.

thanks for posting this I was wondering the same thing.

On another note I have a mistking misting system and I was wondering how to controle the temp of the water. It seems a little cold just coming out of the bucket. Can you put a heat pad under the bucket to warm up the water? Or would that make unwanted bacteria? Just looking to see what everone else is useing or is room temp. water fine. Thanks

There is no exact schedule that will work for everyone.
I have my system go off 8 times a day, varying from 1min-5min at a time. I like to give my jackson lots of water though. This may not be appropriate for you.

Room temp is fine. Some people do use fishtank heaters or "stingers" to heat up the water. As you stated it could help to breed bacteria, and it uses more electricity. I have put hot water in my system, and it doesnt seem to heat the fine mist up much, as it cools down rapidly anyhow.

i too use room temp water and my misting schedual is alot less than most, i do 6 1min sessions a day.
then at lunch i run it for 15 sec then stop for 30 sec than on for a min and a half, this is when i most often see my guys drink. i feel the first mist triggers them and then they get to a good spot by the second mist and drink it up. JMO
has worked for well over a year this way and all chams have perfect brite white urate

I decided to set mine up for eight 60 second mistings heres my schedule. Ill let you know how it goes.

Lights on
10AM

Mist
11AM
1PM
3PM
4PM
5PM
6PM
7PM
8PM

Lights off
10PM

I actually mist a ton. First lights go on at 9am. The first misting is at 10am and is usually a 12 minute misting. I find it encourages them to drink when there is a longer period of misting. then every 2 hours after that its a 5 minute shower to keep the humidity up. at 4 pm I do a longer misting at 9 minutes in case they didn't have a drink in the AM they have another chance. And yes I have a drainage method to help with all the water!;)

i also do a lot of misting...lights on at 9, first mist is 15 mins at 10, second mist is 15mins at 1, 3rd mist is five minutes at 5. i agree that misting for longer periods stimulates drinking..i also had to build quite a drainage system, but it's really worth it.

Quad Chameleons

6:30am Heavy warm misting for 6 minutes

7:30-12:30 Misting every hour for 1 min

2:00 Heavy Misting 3 minutes

3:00-6:00 Misting every hour for 1 min

I drill holes in the cage bottom, and put a bin underneath. Like so:
