I am getting ready to order a misting setup from either herpmist or promist and i was wondering if anyone could explain the differences in the different misting nozzles they have and what would be best for a chameleon habitat
All I can say is that I have a HerpMist and I love it. Jason is Great to deal with. The system is so nice, very quite and oh so easy to set up. I would highly reccomend HerpMist.
I have the reds. But I do have a couple of creams on order. I have a 24x24x48 cage, the red works great. I am going to see the spray pattern on the cream, to see if it will be a little wider for my larger cage.
That is not a bad idea. I do believe that the red ones are most commonly used. I just want a wider pattern in my larger cage, so my guy can't run from it, He,he. I have 2 heads in it right now with reds.
The red, low flow nozzles have an 80° pattern. They put out about 1.6 ounces of water per minute, but this is dependent on the pump pressure so it can be adjusted down quite easily. At 45psi, they output about .9 opm. The red ones are the most commonly used ones in the industry, by far.
The acetal plastic doesn't give water hardness much of a grip, so they don't clog as easily as the metal ones. Bob told me that his nozzles are custom made out of an alloy that is mostly molecularly square and flat so that dissolved solids can't get as good of a foothold as they will on the mass marketed brass nozzles. That's really cool, IMHO. One forum member has told me that he still has problems with them clogging, but if you run RO water, that should never happen.
Either system is a great choice, but I'm obviously biased towards one of them.
