Hello all!

My cham is arriving on Tuesday and I have a couple questions about mist systems. Now I am on 'bang for your buck' budget so I am trying to figure out the best way to get a mist system set up for the least amount of money. Now I know Mist king is the best out there but I don't want to spend that type of money on just one cage. I have looked in to some other misters like the Monsoon and Habba mister. From what I have read, the habba is more of a spitter but can work if you fine tune it just right. With the Monsoon being around $85, I figure the Mist King is only just a bit more with the starter kit being $99. I really dont want to be spending that much on a single cage. Is the Habba my best bet for my situation?? Or should I just get a pressurized hand mister and call it a day? Unless some has a good DIY mist system they are willing to share with me (I am not much of an engineer so it would need to be fairly simple)
For all who read this and input their ideas and thoughts, thank you very much! :D

To be honest, you'll have another cham in a few months anyways! Hand misting is fine and gets your biceps working, good exercise ;):D Since you WILL (not if) get another cham, just invest in a good misting system when you're sick of hand misting.

What chameleon is arriving? That's a small enclosure. If you are expecting a baby or a small species, it's probably okay.

An automatic misting system is not, in any way, a requirement. I would start with a hand pumped mister and see if, down the road, you feel the need for something more. I know there are very experienced members here with lots of animals who hand mist all their chameleons.

I believe he's getting a baby panther from Kammers.

I ordered this little guy!

I just want some that I could have so that its more efficient then just spraying the cage down with a little hand mist bottle. I feel like it wouldn't quite work as well as a mister that could mist more often and get the job done better.

P.S. I plan on upgrading his cage size when he gets to that size but for the mean time, I am using this :D

Indeed I am! I had an order for a Two Face but right when I ordered the last one sold out for another month or so. So I called in and talked to Liddy and I got my order switched to the Oh My and he should arrive tuesday morning :D

why is mist king the best? just curious. the cheaper kit is 99 but then you have like 30 dollar shipping.

for a cage that small if you want to get a starter system i think you should consider getting an aquazamp raindome express kit (and either add their timer or find one locally that has multiple on/offs per day). i ordered my kit with express shipping and it was only 2 days before i got it so that was really nice.

not trying to make it sound like you shouldn't get a mistking i just wish people didnt assume there was a best.

anyways, for a cage that small, in all honesty at the end of the day one of those garden pesticide pump sprayers is going to work totally fine for quite awhile. i only have one cage right now but i get paranoid easily so i had to get a misting/rain and i am definitely going to have a couple more in the future and i know the pump will handle far more than what im going to need.

I only assume it is the best because it is all i ever read when i read about misters. I think I will just get one of those. Is it a good idea to get a room humidifier and place it near by the cage too to raise humidity for a mesh cage?

just a friendly heads up - you can use the search function to help get most answers much faster if you are antsy. there are tons of threads on misting systems and methods and likely the same for humidifiers. some even attach tubes to humidifiers to make foggers.

i dont know from experience but i think the problem with foggers is that they dont bead up to form water droplets very fast (for drinking of course) - and if you are misting then you likely wont need a humidifier anyways. as with all things like this though, youll find some things just dont work for you and some things youll need that others dont - me for example - i cant find an incandescent house bulb that will get my basking spot hot enough so i have to use an actual basking bulb. kind of weird.

That makes a lot of sense. I guess I will see how everything goes and go from there! thanks so much

The pump can run dry for 24hr and not burn up. you can ad more or less cages with ease, parts are easy to get.and there timmer is awesome. I have 15 misting heads on one mistking and it has a little more room to grow. I plan on adding a 2nd mist king this winter. If santa is reading this im trying to be a good boy;)

Normally I try to stay out of these discussion... but I just wanted to share some factual information about the product to halt any rumors about how it 'isn't as good'. We focus on sourcing US product, lightning fast delivery, order accuracy, communication, customer satisfaction and quality products.

Could you use a dogger at all for a mesh cage :/? If not, would it be better to get a cheap Hanna?

alright well...it just fogs and spills out of the sides. didnt really work out. no water droplets on the leaves . im going when i wake up to Lowes to see what i can come up with, ive got some ideas floating around the noggin. ill see which works the best and draw up some plans and let you all know :)

you want to make your own rain system pm me if you want to know what to buy i made one and it works great costs about 50 -60 bucks.

I really think you should buy a hand mister that you pump up. Get one that has a wand. It will give you the mist you want, will be easy on you and costs next to nothing. When you have more chameleons, a more elaborate system can be purchased.
