mist king on two floors

Hi everyone I'm new here and to chameleons. I haven't got one yet but I am planning on it in a couple week. My question is does the pump and water reservoir need to be close to the cage or can I have that stuff in my basement and run the water line threw the floor and to the misting nozzles. I'm asking this because the enclosure will be in my living room and I would rather not have that stuff up where my kids can get it.

Welcome to the forums!

That would *probably* work. My pump in on the floor and the tops of my cages are about 10 feet above that and it doesn't have any trouble with that distance. I have read some reports of people having trouble with too much height between the pump and the cage tops though. Maybe you could just get a cabinet to put the cage on, or near it that has some child proof locks so the pump is safely stored away and the line could just come out the back? That might be easier than drilling through the floor anyway.

I added to the title of your thread to try to attract more input. ;)

That's what I'll do then just gotta find time to sneak a home project in at work. That's one of the great parts of being a cabinetmaker I have all the tools and equipment I need to build whatever I want.
