missing spikes on his back

Alright so my jackson that ive had for awhile now has an area on his back where the spikes are not growing. When i bought him he was like this.
so my question is, Is this an area of his body that was burned as a baby? or does he have some spinal disease?
other than that he is healthy and active

can you post a picture please? my guess would be that it would be from an injury or burn, and although i have never heard of that, i suppose it could be a pre natal defect also. a picture would help

i'm assuming if it was a burn that did that, it would be black in the area around it. i would also expect there to be some sort of other discoloration or something if it was an injury like a cut that did that. could just be a birth defect

no guess at all!
Weird almost looks like they went and grew the other way since no markings of any sort but spots for them:confused:

( no I don't think they are growing in :) )

would the discoloration have stayed there if it happened when he was a baby, he is around a year old now

most chameleons have scars for the rest of their lives when they get a burn. i would expect the burn to be pretty bad if the spines never grew back. or if they melted that part of his back

personally his dorsal area looks wider than normal. IMO it looks like a deformity or trauma at some point.

i wish i would of asked the pet store that i bought it from, most likely now they wouldnt know who i was or the jackson i bought from them.:(
