Miracle baby

Well, I have to share this incredible story.

I found a baby panther chameleon on the floor of my reptile room today. At first, I was completely puzzled as I had no idea how it got there. All of my chameleon eggs are currently incubating in the main house, far away from the reptile room.

Then it dawned on me.

I had recently repurposed an enclosure that used to house my female panther chameleon. It is now home to a peach throat monitor. The only explanation is that I must have missed removing one of the chameleon eggs before reusing the enclosure. The egg hatched, and somehow this tiny baby chameleon escaped from the monitor's enclosure, climbed down a six-foot shelf, and made its way across the room to the floor where I eventually found him. Poor baby he was really dehydrated and started licking the water as soon as I put him in an enclosure.

Life truly finds a way.

I have a feeling this little one is a boy, with a red throat like his dad. I'm definitely keeping him and I'm going to call him Valentine.

WOW! Amazing! Good thing you found him! Total little cutie too with a perfect name. 🤗💗

Found another baby chameleon in the Monitor's enclosure. I'm not sure how many eggs are still there under the substrate. Baby is doing great eating fruit flies...

Umm…does the monitor live in the enclosure and can eat the babies? If so, maybe move the monitor elsewhere if you can. 😬
Love the babies…they are adorable. 🥰
Yes the 48x18x36 enclosure is currently set up to house the Peach Throat monitor. She would definitely eat the baby chameleon if she spotted it. I’m monitoring the enclosure with a motion detection camera and will remove any new hatchlings as soon as I see them. That's actually how I discovered this baby.

Awesome! I had to Google what your monitor looks like. They are pretty! 🥰
