Mineral and calcium suppliment?

Bought a 10 oz container of calcium with no d3 that will more than likely last my entire life lol it's huge! And I have herp-vite as well as a suppliment with d3. I have a schedule that the breeder has given me; suppliment with calcium with d3 the once the first week every month then a multivitamin the second week of every month. Does this sound okay to you guys?
Also,I have heard from a few people that you should never suppliment with a multivitamin and calcium in the same week as they counteract each other. Is is true? I want my little Echo to be in the best of health and hopefully live as long as my Jackson's did (16 years, only to succumb to a very agressive cancer)

You can give the multi the same week as the calcium. It will cause no harm. What was your supplement schedule for your Jacksons? Am I reading right, or did you make a typo...16 years? That is unheard of. That would probably be a guiness world record if it is true.

I got her as a rescue when she was supposedly 2-3 years old. Someone brought her in because they where tired of her and just where done with the whole cricket keeping. I was inexperienced with chameleons when i took her in so hard to say if she really lived to 16 or just 14 not knowing how large babies of what age where supposed to be. I had her for about 13 1/2 years and she started going off food and she was developing an abscess along her spinal cord. Took her to the vet and she had cancer, they said it was very aggressive and chances are she would not survive. I ended up putting her down to end the pain.

I had her on a bit of a different supplement schedule. Vitamin d3 supplement 2 times a month and multivitamin once a month. She also had regular vet check ups with my local herp vet just to make sure she was in perfect health. She always got hand watered 2-3 times daily to make sure she was getting enough water, and a wide variety of feeder insects and the occasional bits of her ficus she wanted.

Wow even 14 years is unheard of. I have never seen one live close to that on the forum here. I have never owned one, but many on here have and they never live that long. Did you ever supplement with calcium?? You didn't mention that.

Yes I just used what ever was available at the time at a pet shop near me. With d3 or without, I didn't learn of the "d3 schedule" until about a year after I had her.

I was just curious because like I said that is an unheard of age for a chameleon, let alone a Jackson's which don't seem to live maybe 4-5 years tops. Did your chameleon live under natural uvb or artificial mostly? Don't mind me...just picking your brain because I am fascinated that you had a chameleon live that long.

100% natural sun. I had an outdoor enclosure as well as a full room devoted for her during the night time and while I was at work.

I live in Florida and have the luxury of year round natural uvb also. Where do you live? If you are living in the same place and are going to have your chameleon outdoors, you do not need to supplement with d3.

I used to live in Florida, but I had to move back to North Carolina last year because of a family ordeal.

This is my first time on forums, so I hope I'm not being rude by interrupting your conversation. If so I'm truly sorry. And please forgive my intrusion.

I read one of the chameleon handbooks where the author said he has seen Jacksons live in captivity for 16 years. Now I don't know this for fact cause I just now acquired Jacksons for the first time. But during 16 years of raising veiled chameleons I had one live 6 years and one lived 8 they were males of course. I was lucky if my females lived 3-4 years.
