I only have about 2" of depth on my custom enclosure, the bottom right now is a cut up antibacterial (not treated with anything just a smooth surface that inhibits growth) yoga type mat, it has been pretty easy to wipe clean and doesn't absorb much but it isn't a good permanent solution.
Under that is painted wood so I would probably have to use plastic or something and put substrate on top of that.
Also, is there any issue with springtails or isopods getting out and in the carpet or similar concerns?
I want to get everything squared away ASAP because I have a great Madagascar jasmine that is growing well but the longer I wait the harder it is going to be to replace the bottom without damaging the plant.
Info and opinions much appreciated!!!
