Might have to give away my Cham...

Hello all,

Haven't posted in a while (which means all is well ), but anyway, here goes it.

I am in the military and leaving for a 16 week training course in May. I am having a hard time getting somebody to look after my girl for that long, even offering as much money as I can afford for their service but no dice.

I continue my search and am trying to convince the local pet-store to take her for the time since they're always taking care of their own animals anyway, what's one more? Free money really.

Anyway, if I can't find anybody to take her for that time period, the only option is to give her away. I'd much rather give her to somebody on this site since I can feel a little better that she will receive proper care, and probably get to live in a nicer place for her anyway. I would obviously be willing to pay for the shipping and etc.

This is just a preliminary notice if you may, that a female veiled may come available (btw she'll be 1 or 2 months under a year old come May), in great health as far as I can tell (laid 45 eggs her first time...), and she's a tough girl, came all the way across Canada with me with no problems. I'm trying to avoid giving her away at all costs obviously, but I may have to.

If anybody might/could be interested or knows somebody that is, please reply to this thread or PM me.

I wonder if money can be made with a chameleon hotel service just for this purpose? Would there be enough cham owners coming and going for it to be profitable? Just wondering if anyone's thought of this before...

I am in Newfoundland but I am glad there is a lot of interest/help available. Is there anybody that has a spare set-up available already? Shipping is going to be expensive as it is, if I have to ship a cage and a bunch of lights it's going to double or triple.

I have a huge 260 gallon my lil girl is in right now, but i also have a 24 x 20 x 48 cage she can go in..

So i have a spare cage, your girl would go in the 260 gallon (6 feet high)

And... id need lights though, which i can get at our pet store.

I'm in Ontario and I would consider taking her if you weren't able to find someone closer to you. Are you going out of Province for training or are you staying in NL?

Forgot to ask: Are you looking for a permanent new home or would you prefer to take her back once you are ready?

I am going to Quebec, just outside of Montreal, for training. You're in London? This might be a great option because I might be able to ship her to you from Montreal, along with some other supplies if you need them. Do you have spare supplies or no?

I would like to have her back haha. I wasn't expecting such an overwhelming amount of support from the website that people would be willing to babysit for me but since that is an option I guess I won't have to give her away anymore

EDIT: I should add, my course runs for 15 weeks. Right now it looks like it will be May 4 to Aug 14. So I would need her to be looked after for about 16 weeks (this is why I can't find anybody around here to take care of her, it's a looong time).

I am in Montana just south of Medicine Hat. I have the equiptment to care for your cham and return it to you upon your return. All of us have been in a tight spot but none of us would want someone to be forced to give up a beloved cham. We are here for you buddy!!!!!!

Montreal is not too far from London at all, shipping would certainly be easier on her (and cheaper for you) then from NL. I would definitely be willing to look after her for that time and then send her back to you. I'm going to send you a PM so we can discuss the details a bit farther
