Microfauna in naturalistic enclosure?

From what I've read on the forums, all substrates are generally inappropriate for use in chameleon enclosures due to the risk of accidental ingestion and/or impaction. However, as in dart frog vivariums, microfauna such as springtails and isopods are often used as "cleanup crew" for waste and other bacteria. Has anyone used any microfauna in their chameleon enclosure? I'm planning to create a custom background using expanding foam covered in cocofiber.
