So I was feeding my baby boa a prekilled pinkie and wondered.. would this be a good treat for my male veiled?
I went to YouTube and there's a few veileds eating live mice, I don't Like the dangers of a live mouse.. but wat about a small little prekilled pinkies?

I realize its uncommon but if anyone knows about it it'd be you all! I can see It being alot of protein and a good sorce of calcium from the bones..

Pictures of chameleons eating pinkies or anoles are present on the internet and youtube. But so are countless videos of people hitting themselves in the nuts, so consider the source. Vertebrates are not a notable part of chameleon's normal diet in the wild and too many animal proteins in the diet of an animal that's not a carnivore can wreak havoc on their kidneys leading to kidney damage and gout. Pinkies are very high in fat and very low in calcium (they don’t have bones yet) so they have little to no health benefits. Gout is a very painful incurable buildup of uric acid crystals in the joints. Everything your chameleon needs can be obtained through an all-insect diet with good gutloading and many very successful enthusiasts and breeders have sustained multiple generations with an all-insect diet.

I have read were it can be beneficial to feed 1 per month as it is a good source of iron but i have never tried it. This advice came from a The chameleon news ezine site interview. I cannot remember the man's name, only that he is a well respected academic and breeder of chameleons.

well for what i know even some bugs/insects are hard for them to digest- those whit high amount of chitin and can harm their digestive tract !i could be a good boost of protein and other substances ! but to digest meat, bones, fur, feathers etc its quite hard ! its could realy harm the cham, even the poop with none digestable large amounts can harm them pretty good : constipation, gut penetration, anal prolapse, scratch of throat and many others that could lead to death ! so i say it is a big risk !i say no for this !

Thank u this Is wat I needed :) it will not be done.. I was not aware there bones hadnet developed yet, I did know animal protein in excess was not good. And I know better than to belive In YouTube ;) that's why I asked! More or less it was curiosity cause I feed my snakes and have seen it done and I convinced myself they had to encounter some fashion of small animal new born in the trees in the wild such as some kind of squirrel chipmunk thing (not familiar with other wildlife in Yemen obviously) and curious if there were benefits..
Sounds like benifets come no where close to out weighing hazards so again I thank u ;)
